Let's quench insensibility and indifference to fire!
Wakaba makes fun of me because I have taken a picture of this sign in Shinjuku station every single time I've been in Japan. I can't help myself, it's so polite and cheerful. It really makes me want to quench insensibility and indifference to fire. Wakaba tells me that this message is written a haiku in Japanese, which probably made it tricky to translate into English.
I'm also a big fan of this sign that you can see in most train stations in Tokyo. I guess the message is something like, "Don't cry if you drop your hat on the tracks, a train guy will rescue it with giant tongs. Let's quench insensibility and indifference to hats on the tracks!"
