This is What We Do

This is how I keep from losing my mind. Every day, Wakaba and Oscar and I talk on this video chat program called Skype. It's free, and it's not perfect but it really helps. If you talk to me regularly you're probably sick of hearing about it, but it really makes a huge difference in my life these days. It's so nice to see their faces every day, and to hear Oscar laugh and make his crazy little noises. Wakaba and I talk about the little things going on in our lives and we gossip about our friends and joke around. It's nice that it's free, so we can talk as long as we want. Sometimes we just do our every-day chores, like fold the laundry and stuff and just leave the camera on and talk. So it's almost like our normal life at home for an hour a day or so, at least. I don't know what we would do without it. When she's in Toronto, Wakaba uses it to talk to her family in Saitama too. Yesterday we talked after Christmas dinner at my Mom's house, and my brothers got a chance to say hello too. It was a really fun and relaxed Christmas this year, and I'm glad Oscar and Wakaba could be part of it. Next Christmas we'll all be together.
